Gregory Generet is a native New Yorker where his love for music started at an early age and the stoops and streets introduced him to the legendary Motown sound. But it was from the older inhabitants of his Brooklyn neighborhood that he was encouraged to listen to Jazz.

During college, his palate was cultivated and the classic recordings of Johnny Hartman and John Coltrane steered him toward the vocalists of that era - Billy Eckstine, Joe Williams and Jon Hendricks, among others, whose voices fit into his quest for the narrative.

Generet, affectionately known as ?Monsieur,? has performed throughout New York City with sold out shows at Dizzy?s Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Highline Ballroom, Joe?s Pub and The Edison Ballroom. He has performed in Paris and Italy. He has honed his skills along the way with the talented likes of Mike Renzi, Laurence Hobgood, Eric Reed and Onaje Allan Gumbs.

After receiving three Emmy Awards for his work at CBS Network, Generet focused on his own work and in 2009, he released his debut CD (re)generet-ion. Taking on the theme of romance, he has re-imaged the term ?Standard? by adding his own vocal flexibility and appreciation for the clarity that is innate to Jazz aficionados. His effort has garnered attention, receiving radio play across the country at such stations as KKJZ-FM in Los Angeles, as well as Jonathan Swartz?s ?The Saturday and The Sunday Show,? and raves from reviewers and listeners alike. Generet lives in Harlem with his wife, Tony Award winner, Tamara Tunie.
