Maucha Adnet
Born in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil, Maucha Adnet atarted her professional singing career at the age of 15, as a member of vocal group Ceu da Boca. From 1978 to 1984, Ceu da Boca recorded two albums released by Polygram.
From 1984 to 1994,Maucha performed, toured and recorded with legendary composer Antônio Carlos Jobim and his band Banda Nova. The recordings included four CDs, Passarim(Polygram, Verve,1987), Antônio Brasileiro Grammy Winner (Sony Music,1995),Tom Jobim Inédito(BMG-Ariola,1995) and Rio Revisited Antônio Carlos Jobim and Gal Costa (Polygram,Verve,1987). Maucha toured with Jobim throughout Brazil, United States, Japan, Israel and Europe and performed in Jazz Festivals and venues such as Carnegie Hall (NY), Avery Ficher Hall (NY), Hollywood Ball (LA), Bill Graham Wiltern Theatre (LA) and many others.
Maucha has also recorded with such artists as Dorival Caymmi, Chico Buarque, Dorí Caymmi, Caetano Veloso, Toninho Horta, Mario Adnet, Joyce, Nara Leão, Charlie Byrd, Gil Goldstein,Emily Remler, Rob Mounsey, Othelo Molineaux, Trio da Paz, Harry Allen, Duduka Da Fonseca, Slide Hampton and many others. She was the guest vocalist on Randy Breckers Grammy Winner cd Into the Sun.
Residing in New York for many years, Maucha has been performing regurlaly with her own band and has performed in shows with Claudio Roditi, Herbie Mann, Trio da Paz, Oscar Castro Neves, Eliane Elias, Mark Johnson, Slide Hampton, Randy Brecker, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band at various venues, notably; Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Blue Note, Birdland and Dizzys Club Coca-Cola(JALC). In May of 2002 she was the guest vocalist performing with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Cyro Baptista at Alice Tully Hall (NY).
Maucha has two solo CDs: Songs I Learned From Jobim (Venus Records,Japan) and Jobim Songbook(Kind of Blue), released in 2006, with arrangements by her brother Mario Adnet, featuring: Joe Lovano, Duduka Da Fonseca, Helio Alves, Jay Ashby, Claudio Roditi, Randy Brecker, Romero Lubambo and Nilson Matta. She was the guest vocalist on Slide Hamptons CD Slide Plays Jobim, on Duduka da Fonsecas Grammy nominated CD Samba Jazz Fantasia(Anzic Records) and featured soloist on Latin Grammy winner (2004) and Grammy nominee (2006) Jobim Sinfônico(CD/DVD)(Adventure Music world wide and Biscoito Fino, Brasil). In 2004 Maucha toured in Israel with the Israel Kibutz Orchestra performing the music of Jobim. She also performed in Russia and Ukraine with her trio. She recorded as a special guest on the CD by Duduka Da Fonseca & Helio Alves,Songs From The Last Century(Blue Toucan), featuring Eddie Gomez and Phil Woods. These days Maucha has been performing, teaching and recording in Germany, Sweden, Italy, Israel, Russia, USA and Brasil with her group and as a special guest.
